Five easy rides you can finish before dinner
Every one of these loops starts within ten minutes of the shop, stays flat, and is signposted the whole way. A City Cruiser is enough bike for all five. Distances are round trips from Mühlenstraße.
1. The riverside loop — 14 km
Follow the water east on the separated path, cross at the second bridge and come back on the north bank. Almost no junctions, so it is the one we suggest for a first ride on an unfamiliar bike.
2. Park circuit — 9 km
Gravel and packed sand, closed to cars, and busy on Sunday afternoons. Good with children; go early if you want the path to yourself.
3. Canal to the lake — 22 km
The longest of the five and still flat. There is a swimming spot at the turnaround point and a kiosk that stays open until seven in summer.
4. Old rail path — 16 km
A converted freight line, dead straight, with a slight fall on the way out. Smooth asphalt for the first 11 km, then coarse chip until the end.
5. Market and bridges — 7 km
Short and urban, best on a Saturday morning. Six bridges, four cafés, and enough stops that an hour turns into two.
Ask at the counter and we will mark whichever of these you choose on a paper map, along with the two junctions worth walking.
Before you set off
- Fill a bottle — only routes 3 and 5 pass drinking water.
- Take the lock even on a short loop.
- Lights are fitted to every bike, but check they are on before dusk.
